Weibel signs contract to deliver advanced radar systems for Danish air defense

December 05, 2025

The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) has signed a contract with Weibel Scientific to supply four XENTA-M5 radar systems for integration into Denmark’s Very Short Range Air Defense (VSHORAD) capability. This strategic step strengthens the protection of the Danish Army’s 1st Brigade against evolving aerial threats.

The XENTA-M5 radar is among the most advanced systems globally, designed to detect and track traditional aerial threats – such as aircraft and missiles – and modern low, slow, and small targets like drones. These radars provide critical early warning and situational awareness, enabling effective engagement and protection of key assets.

Commenting on the contract, Weibel Scientific CEO Peter Røpke said:
“If you want to neutralize drones, you first need to see them. Our XENTA radar can track both small and large flying objects like drones, aircraft and missiles. This contract is not just an order for us in Weibel; it’s a quality stamp. This shows that our technology is trusted by our national defense, and we are proud to contribute to strengthening Denmark’s defense and future readiness.”

Air threats are evolving rapidly. From high-speed missiles to small, low-cost drones, the battlefield is no longer confined to traditional targets. Detecting these threats early is critical, and this is where Weibel’s technology makes the difference. The XENTA-M5 radar combines cutting-edge Doppler technology with advanced tracking algorithms, enabling precise detection of even the smallest drones at long range. This capability ensures that Denmark’s 1st Brigade can protect troops, infrastructure, and civilians against emerging threats.

By choosing Danish technology, Denmark is reinforcing its sovereignty, creating high-tech jobs, and driving innovation that benefits both national security and the economy. It demonstrates that world-class solutions can be developed and produced locally, strengthening Denmark’s role as a trusted partner in NATO and beyond.
